Paper Heart Camera..Bokeh Santa!

17th-2
This is my bokeh shot for this week's theme over at Chelsey's Paper Heart Camera blog!! I really was pleased with how this shot came out! I've been using a tripod steady surfaces lately so I can lower my ISO and shutter speed in order to achieve an overall more pleasing photo with less noise in low-light situations! So here were my settings for this shot:
f/2.8
1/50 s
ISO 200
50mm
Used my Speedlite external flash with 90 degree swivel and +3 on flash output (my camera differs when I set the flash manually). I then opened the image in Camera Raw (WHICH I LOVE) in Photoshop CS5 and Auto-Corrected the white balance and adjusted fill light and sharpness. I also found a nice glittery/bokeh overlay to use on it...I adjusted the opacity to about 40% and erased the overlay from santa himself. I hope this helps anyone who is wondering what kind've settings to use indoors or with an external flash. This is by no means the "right" was or "ideal" way but it worked for me and maybe it will help some of you! Thanks for stopping by!

Great shot. Love the light reflection below Santa. What is he standing on?

Beautiful photo. Love the bokeh effect behind the santa and I love the surface he is standing on. Was someone watching Toy Story on the TV? It looks like Woody's face to the right of his feet! :)

I'm new to your blog, and I just started a photography blog tonight! I am about to jump into the world of photoshop... and all this talk is making me nervous! It seems sooo confusing... but your shot is so lovely! The bokeh is unreal!

Nice to "meet" you!

Thanks for the love everyone! The surface is a Disney character themed table my parents got for my son on his 1st bday! The tabletop is covered with this vinyl-ish plastic-y material that is reflective...and the toy story characters are on it! My boy loves toy story ANY thing!! :)
